first---- don't forget to vote in my poll!
so yesterday in the barn i was watching some info-mercials. the best was the landrider. this AMAZING bicycle shifts by it's self! wow. (http://www.healthandbeautydirect.com/landrider/)
here are a couple great testimonials:
i liked that i didn't have to constantly look down and see what gear i was in and shift while i was rolling along.
ok that's great. do you really have to look down every time you shift?
"It's the perfect workout. The cardiovascular benefits of just being on a bike and exercising are fantastic. With LandRider you can go anywhere, rain or shine and you don't have to wait for the gym to open at a certain time. Just hop on and go!"
- Carrie Sisk, Professional Trainer and Cyclist
ok carrie. yes, cycling had awesome cardio benefits. but can't you go anywhere rain or shine on any kind of bike? what kind of professional trainer/cyclist are you?
my only question is, how are you supposed to win the sprint at the retirement home crit if you can't shift?

this weekend was great! here are some picture re-caps
recently at fresh paint, we've come to adopt a new philosophy of casual fridays. here's lisa (and lucy's) take on the weekly holiday
friday night driving home. dallas is a very safe driver. nothing like driving 80 mph, eating a naked burrito, and then looking at the camera. safety is a #1 issue with us
last but not least..... my 2 best friends in the world and i. my sister beezer and my mom!

home sweet home! today was a fun filled day of working cows....... in the rain.... and 40 degree temps...... and getting kicked by calves the size of a small great dane.
after dinner i found out where i get my great blonde moments. while playing scrabble my mom looks at the bored and asks, "what's roped" (she pronounces it ro-ped). obviously i come by this naturally.

today after work we are headed back to little holland, aka the holste homestead in little ludell ks. this is only a 3.5 hr trip but to someone with self diagnosed car a.d.d. it's treacherous for anyone riding with me. fortunately dallas is patient
my mom was the only tulip trooper last year and planted 700 bulbs last fall. here's a quick preview:
so tonight around 6 you can be thinking of how much fun dallas and i are going to be having head-banging to my ipod part of the way home....... before i fall asleep and wake up in ks.

the other day my wonderful friend, lisa, thought of me and my love of fruit snacks. i would have been delighted with just a "small" box of 12, but, while she was at costco she got me what i guess is normal there........ a box of not 12, but 80
while this says it's FAT FREE and made with REAL FRUIT, it is important to keep in mind that every little pouch is 80 calories.
so....
80 cals/pouch x 80 pouches/box = 6400 cals/box
6400 cals/box / 3500 cals/lb = 1.83 possible pounds of fat
even though the box says 4.5 lbs.... there's 1.83 pounds i could gain from calories from this
so here's to you lisa..... for your concern that i'm not riding my bike downhill as fast as i should be!

today at fresh paint we got to.................... scrape off popcorn ceiling! WHOO HOO. as you can see, lisa is having a faux fabulous time!
i think i'm going to start a countdown of 103 wonderful things you can do to entertain yourself if necessary. #103: scrape off popcorn ceiling and form sculptures
also a little tidbit: our house is a complete disaster right now. so if you must come over, it is mandatory that you follow the "look but don't judge" policy. thank you

it's monday, and cold.... and nothing super exciting happened today.... except for the fact that i'm putting an offer in on a house by myself.... one that dallas has never seen the inside of. i liked it, and that's really all that matters, isn't it? :)
last time he was out of town i bought a car on my own. this time a house (?), next time....obviously this one is taken... but something similar would work just as well

sunny days
fun fridays!
friday was day 3 for the giant canvas. somehow we managed to fit inside lisa's studio.
for evening entertainment dallas and i decided not to watch a movie, but, get fun filled games to utilize our minds instead. while we were in the games isle, i decided to get william one of his all time favorite toys, a rubber snake. for some reason he loves chewing the heads off of these, providing long lasting entertainment . this may work for your kids, i don't know.
as you can see, this was a really great night. thanks for pooping the party mr. sleepyhead! :)

bird news
for those who care (apparently there are a lot of you), yesterday when william was on his walk i decided to tackle this bird-in-the-grill issue. it was actually a baby pheasant and came out in 3 pieces.
big picture project:
nothing says this project is a crazy idea like this picture. in order to gesso the middle of this canvas i rigged up some paintbrush stilts out of ultra heavy duty stirring sticks.

other news on the forefront:
a) dallas has decided to start his own blog, "a geek's life." if you're into reading a bunch of stuff that is nerdy and you don't know what half of it means, his site is: http://www.dallasburnum.blogspot.com. word of caution: more words than pics!
b) we didn't get the house we put an offer in on. so, if you live in golden and want to sell your house to us, we'd love you forever and even invite you back for a house warming bbq
c) currently at fresh paint murals, we are working on a ginormous picture
here is lisa holding up the stretcher for the 7x9' masterpiece

good times at the grocery
i never seem to notice, but, several people have reminded me that i have a bird stuck in my grill. i'm embarrassed to say, but this has been there since the time dallas and i drove home to ks for christmas.
yesterday at the grocery store, i come out to find this on my windshield. couldn't help but crack up!

i'm in trouble
scary times today. i have a mtn bike that i don't know what to do with. yikes! now my parents can anxiously await the next telephone call of "I CRASHED AGAIN" just like the old days. in honor of it's maiden voyage, dallas went out with me. i thought i was doing well, not letting the guys behind us catch up. when we get home i hear "well, you didn't do as bad as i thought you were going to." thanks, dallas.
here i am, demonstrating how light my bike is with the one-finger-hold
