Boy toys

We are cleaning out our garage and decided to clear up some space by putting the 37" tires on the jeep wheels.  Ez demonstrates how monsterous these things are.
I think they are rediculous.
Dallas couldnt be more excited.

I should probably find something else to do on a friday night.

Im also sure that the neon food coloring isnt organic. Its pretty though!

what has happened to us over the past 2 weeks?
have we been gone?
(well, d has, but is back now.)

have we been doing anything exciting?
no

have i had a difficult time loading pictures

i forgot my blogging comp at home last time and now have it again.

what did we do this weekend?
i'll tell you---

we left thursday night in glorious sunlight. 4:30 pm
found ourselves (dallas, ez and i) in a ditch in the middle of a blizzard 20 mi from my hometown 10:30 pm
slept in car. in blizzard.
8:30 am. ride in state snowplow (dallas, ez and i sharing one seat) to hometown.
9:00 get home.

then.......
work outside in 4" mud
dig car out of snowbank
go to art show
work beef calves
build things out of metal (pics to come)
decorate sugar cookies
make easter egg thingies
and
make it back to denver.

it was quite the weekend

someone in our house
has reached a new level of
pathetic

he's also at the vet today getting xrays.
i figure if he's been limping around for a month its time to
figure out what's going on.
he's turning into quite the expensive little friend.

tonight ez and i took a little walk around the park,

a soccer ball!

ez is real fun to play soccer with.
i thought we'd just kick it around a bit
and then leave it for the kid who lost it to find tomorrow.

i guess if you (ezra) bite it, and deflate it,
you take it.my sincerest apologies to the kiddo who lost his ball tonight.

dallas is in the process of stripping all 6 layers of paint down and then eventually, repainting.
it was nice out today so i decided to help out.
in all reality i just like watching the paint bubble up with all the colors showing thru.
it really is artwork in itself
(the paint that is--i'm still not convinced about the jeep)

ez and i went home this past weekend.

it was great. absolutely great.
i'll take every opportunity i can to play farm girl.

fortunately it was beef calving season!
if you've never experienced this before it's like going for an easter egg hunt on a 4wheeler.

if you don't know, every calf is born like this:
ok, so maybe not. but it would be a lot easier if they came w/ ear tags already in!

Cheap project

Ez and i have been working hard on the front porch. I wish so badly i had a before and after pic for you.

Before: planter with dead flowers welcomed you. The wood on top was bending up (previous owners failed to paint). It was a dark blue that became more of a dark hole.

Now:  new top boards will soon be painted and go up.  a fresh, lighter coat of paint is more welcoming.  old chair from goodwill:  $5, can of spray paint:  $6.  alll in all a cheap but effective project.  in the summer i'm planning on having a hanging plant.  i'm going to wait till may to get it.  i was once shopping in a garden center and a lady (my grandma's age) said, "i never get flowers till mother's day.  you just don't know what its going to do around here." 

i think she might be right.  i'll have to impatiently wait.

on a side note:  william has no claws and i have always wondered if the mice he brought in were already dead.  today i came home to a little surprise.  somehow he kills them.  today's victim was so fresh that i had mouse blood drug across my floor.

Just in case

William often likes to "help" with art projects.  I never pass up the opportunity to paste stuff on his head. Tonight i decided to help him out incase he forgets his name in the next week or so.

liz gave me an amaryllis around thanksgiving for the christmas season.
it hibernated thru christmas and finally opened up last week.

my grandma

i feel like i am more like my grandma than anyone else in the family.

we have similar birthdays
we have similar thoughts
we share the same type of humor
we're pretty much best buds

this week i opened up the mailbox and started laughing.
she knows we enjoy reading "small town newspaper news" and so she has decided to start sending it to us in the mail.
her system is hilarious.
why not take a regular sized envelope and cut the ends off and stuff a newpaper thru?
it is awesome. heck, why not even mispell our name?
i LOVE it.

dallas is kind of worried though.
one day he asked me, "when you get old are you going to walk around the house in your t-shirt and underwear too?"
and i said, "why wouldn't i?"
yes, i'm just like my grandma.

Sometimes, on days like today when you can't find an ice scraper anywhere, my trusty kitchen spatula is a good substitute

5) physical therapy

ok, so maybe that's what i've been doing. dallas doesn't go to physical therapy

also....... d & i are officially posted on hgtv. we've decided to enter our kitchen in the hgtv'd contest, where the big 'ol truck just shows up to your house and re-does a room .
(how great would that be?)
anyway, please go rate our room!

for those of you that don't know, angry birds is a game for your droid phone. (i never thought i'd have a droid phone but then again i never thought my favorite old phone would just stop working and lose all the information i've gathered in the past 3 years).

anyway, i'm hopelessly addicted.
my sister, beezer might be more addicted than i, or maybe the engineer in her makes it easier to get thru all 5 worlds. she got her phone a week after me. she's done w the ENTIRE game.

wow! it was nice out today!

so nice, in fact, that smack dab in the middle of the afternoon dallas and i decided to sit thru day 1 of our church sponsored dave ramsey course.

it's going to be hard but will definitely be worth it. please, no one be offended if we do'nt do anything fun (eating out, shopping, or basically buying anything) with you. it's not that we don't like you, but would rather retire earlier.

hard to believe we have to start deciding that kind of stuff soon!!

Wow! What a great day! Snowshoeing followed by food at walnut st brewery, which was taken over by ksu fans. Then we went to the ksu cu bb game. Its a good thing liz and i took a pic before because i was not happy afterwards. On a happy note it is the last time i will have to put up w cu fans!

Tonight we made homemade cards for 4 hrs. It was awesome!

Last night we went thru pics of baby dallas. After finding this of him, eating an entire hamburger around 18 to 24 months, i have decided that we cannot afford kids yet.

i want to go shooting again and get better.
d and i took our guns to ulysses and shot today.
and now we are watching top shot on the history channel.

i have a LOT of practice still, but it was too hard to resist posting my. first couple of shots. this target i have to save.

dallas and his dad had a shoot-off,
one of them is EXTREMELY happy to have won*cough* dallas
although i'd hate to publicly embarrass the loser
*cough* randy
(keep in mind randy was a nationally ranked competition shooter)

carol is a really good shot too!
hopefully she gets a 238 for her birthday!
